In the third quarter of 2025, Citi Handlowy achieved a net profit of PLN 469 million with total revenues exceeding PLN 1 billion. Despite a decline in net interest income, the bank recorded a 7% year-on-year increase in net fee and commission income, maintaining a cost-to-income ratio of 36%.
In line with its strategy, the bank is dynamically growing its institutional banking operations, recording loan volume growth of 27% year-on-year — more than four times faster than the market. As part of its support for key economic priorities, Citi Handlowy was involved in, among others, financing EBRD projects related to the energy transition and the implementation of the national deposit return system.
Retail banking, being prepared for migration to VeloBank, recorded a 10% year-on-year increase in the number of affluent clients and an 18% year-on-year increase in balances in investment products. At the same time, Citi Handlowy continued its profit-sharing policy, distributing an additional PLN 448.55 million to shareholders in the third quarter.
Citi Handlowy's total revenues amounted to PLN 1.01 billion (-7% year-on-year). Net interest income decreased by 11% year-on-year to PLN 733 million, as a consequence of declining interest rates. Net fee and commission income, on the other hand, grew by 7% year-on-year, driven primarily by the bank's activity in the area of custody services, reaching PLN 152 million. The bank's operating expenses including depreciation amounted to PLN 359 million, representing an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2024. The total loan balance grew by 14% year-on-year, and deposits by 16% year-on-year. The cost-to-income ratio stood at 36%.
Citi Handlowy is repositioning its operations and is intensively developing its institutional banking business. The third quarter was another period in which the bank recorded strong growth dynamics in this area. Loans grew by as much as 27% year-on-year, compared to an average sector growth of 6%. The most dynamic asset growth was recorded in the largest corporate client segment (+45% year-on-year).
In line with the new strategic directions announced in May, the bank is supporting the delivery of the country's key priorities. Citi Handlowy extended another loan this year to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development amounting to PLN 400 million, supporting EBRD projects including those related to the transformation of the energy sector, decarbonisation of the economy, and support for Poland's economic development. Citi Handlowy was also a partner to Kaucja.pl — the National Deposit Return System — in the implementation of the direct recycling system, which launched in Poland on 1 October.
In the area of Retail Banking, Citi Handlowy is maintaining strong growth dynamics. The number of affluent clients increased by 10% year-on-year; retail client deposit balances grew by 7% year-on-year, while funds in investment products were 18% higher year-on-year. The mortgage product balance increased by 2% year-on-year. In terms of the value of credit extended on credit cards, the bank's market share stood at 15%. The sales volume of cash loans and credit card loans in the third quarter grew by 17% year-on-year. The cash loan balance grew by 5% year-on-year.
Citi Handlowy continues its policy of sharing profits with shareholders. In line with the declaration announced in May — following the payment of the second highest dividend in the bank's history, amounting to PLN 1.3 billion this year — in the third quarter the bank distributed an additional PLN 448.55 million to shareholders.
Elżbieta Czetwertyńska, President of the Management Board of Citi Handlowy: "The third quarter was another period in which the consistent execution of the Global Business Bank development strategy translated into results in institutional banking.
