21 October 2026

     SUMMARY
  • Citi experts and distinguished guest speakers discussed macroeconomic challenges, supply chain transformation, and defence financing.
  • More than 200 Citi Handlowy clients attended the conference.

Geopolitical volatility, trade tensions, as well as energy and technological transformation present companies with the imperative to redefine their strategies. During the Citi Warsaw Macro Conference, organized by Citi Handlowy, international Citi experts and special guests discussed the outlook for the global and domestic economy.

– Geopolitics has become so important that it has begun to shape the way we conduct business and how the economy functions. Changes are occurring very rapidly and carry consequences that extend far beyond politics. That is why we invited an exceptional group of Citi experts from around the world to help us better understand these processes and make sound decisions in these challenging times – emphasized Maciej Kropidłowski, Vice President of the Management Board of Citi Handlowy.

– Foreign investors perceive Poland as a resilient and secure economy, as well as an attractive hub for Europe. At Citi Handlowy, we are committed to supporting both foreign companies investing in Poland and Polish enterprises expanding their operations abroad – added Elżbieta Czetwertyńska, President of the Management Board of Citi Handlowy.

During the conference, Sahra English, Managing Director, Global Government Affairs at Citi, spoke about potential scenarios in the upcoming U.S. midterm elections and their impact on global politics and international relations. Andrew Hollenhorst, Citi US Chief Economist, presented his expectations regarding the growth of the world's largest economy. Max Layton, Citi Global Head of Commodities Research, discussed the situation in commodity markets, and Adam Pickett, Head of Citi Global Macro Strategy, presented forecasts for emerging markets.

Special guests of the conference: General Mieczysław Bieniek, former NATO Deputy Strategic Commander, Dr. Jacek Raubo from Defence24, and Marta Postuła, First Vice President of the Management Board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, discussed defence, its impact on the advanced technology sector, and supply chain resilience.

The panel experts also highlighted that modern defence is not merely about accumulating hardware, but above all about technological agility, cybersecurity, and the development of a dual-use innovation ecosystem.
